and a look at the week ahead coming up in just a little bit. stick with us for that. >> let's check in with julie wright. she has the latest on the traffic situation out there. >> good morning to you all. we are talking about loudoun county. before a serious crash that popped up on us along route 9 out at hamilton station road. we are told that the highway is blocked off in each direction. that is route 9 at hamilton station road currently closed because of an accident. for those that are traveling along northbound i-95 here in lorton, nice, easy commute continuing up towards the beltway. no problems to report on the beltway leading annandale to merrifield and you will fine that traveling at the wilson bridge, all lanes are open and traffic is running smoothly there. top side of beltway, the outer loop as you work your way around from 650 new hampshire avenue and continue to silver spring, light traffic volume there as well. you will find lanes are open coming southbound as you travel from 109 out towards the split. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >>> it appears the ea
and thunderstorm activity is out of here after providing some of us fireworks during the evening hours and we are left with warm temperatures. didn't really cool us down a whole lot. 74-degree at reagan national. 67 in baltimore. 67 out at dulles. you get the idea here, these temperatures much warmer than they've been the last couple of mornings. 67 in winchester. the shower and thunderstorm activity was kind of spotty in nature, kind of isolated. some of us got some pretty big storms. that has slipped off the coast. the morning fog will burn off and we'll be left with a hot and humid one this afternoon with once again temperatures jumping into the 90s. remember, it is the first full day of fall. our average high temperature is in the upper 70s and we are talking about 90s. mother nature is not willing to give up on summer quite eighty. highs later this afternoon with lots of sunshine in the low 90s. 91 here in town and just hot. not expecting a shower and/or thunderstorm activity later today. so it will be a quiet one. >> let's see if it is quiet out o
. i'm sarah simmons in for gurvir dhindsa. >> i'm steve chenevey. glad you're with us. welcome to fox 5 morning news on this thursday morning. let's get a look at that forecast for today. tucker barnes joins us with hopefully more good news. >> okay news. we've got more clouds than yesterday. not going to be picture perfect like it was. a little warmer than yesterday. a little more humid as well. we are going to have a gorgeous weekend with more details on that coming up. we'll talk about current conditions and we are in the 60s generally across the area here in town. humidity, 57%. wind are out of the east at six miles per hour. pressure is falling just a little bit. i mentioned cloud cover. can you see it streaming in here from the west. what this is is a warm front. it will be noticeably more humid. still not bad by summer standards but after the perfect weather we had around here the last couple of days, more clouds in the forecast. the rain should hold off until the nighttime hours particularly overnight into tomorrow morning. at lea
. >>> it is monday, september 27, 2010 i'm gurvir dhindsa. we're glad you could join us. >> thank you for being here. tony perkins joins us as always as we say good morning to him as well. >> we got some rain and we'll get more and much-needed rain across the area today. we'll start with the radar image and can you see that we've got some rain showers. there are a few areas where we're seeing a little heavier rainfall. that will be primarily off to the north and east. we also have full cloud cover this morning, and some fog here and there in parts of the viewing area. sorry we are losing that last frame of rain there for you. we'll get that fixed for you. current conditions, 64 degrees at reagan national airport. relative humidity, 93%. wind are out of the northeast at seven miles per hour. here is your forecast for today. expect more rain. cool, cloudy, rain will be heavy at times. could see some thunderstorms later on today as well. we are looking for a high of around 74 degrees. we'll have more details on all of that coming up in just a little bit. >> thank you, tony. >> let's check in with julie
